Digital Television Transition - Frequently Asked Questions
| What is the Digital Television Transition? The old way of sending TV signals over the airwaves is changing. The nation's over-the-air local television stations are moving from an old system known as "analog" to a new system known as "digital". The U.S. government has set a date for this change. On February 17, 2009, TV stations will stop transmitting their programs in today's analog technology, and will start transmitting them only in digital. |

Why is America Switching to Digital Television (DTV)?
There are some compelling reasons why local TV stations in the country are being required by the U.S. government to change to digital broadcasting.
For one thing, changing over to a digital format will reduce the amount of signal spectrum the nation's TV broadcasting system uses. Some of the extra capacity that's freed up will be made available to police and fire departments.
In addition, changing to digital broadcasting lets TV stations send clearer signals through the air.
How do Consumers Switch to DTV?
If you already have cable television from HTC, the good news is that you do not have to do anything to continue enjoying broadcast TV stations in their digital format.
That's because HTC already has technology in place to handle local over-the-air TV stations in the new digital format. We do this by capturing these signals and sending them to your home through the same cable connection that delivers popular channels like ESPN, CNN, Discovery and many others. As long as your TV sets are connected to cable, they'll display local stations.
And, if you're signed up for Digital Cable TV, you're already enjoying all the benefits of digital TV, including more channel choices, and better quality picture and sound.
HTC Digital Cable helps you transition to Digital TV. For more information or to sign-up, call
